This year's Outstanding Community Contribution by a Student Organization, ImmUNITY! ImmUNITY’s community outreach is focused in several months of the year, called activation periods, where the club hosts events that include tabling on the T. Anne Cleary walkway with educational information, a phonebank where students can earn pizza for calling representatives, and a letter-to-the-editor writing party where students come together to write letters to local newspapers encouraging readers to get involved in global health advocacy. Each year, the group is able to send a large delegation of its members to the United Nations Foundation Shot@Life Summit for an opportunity to engage with other global vaccine champions, learn about new developments in vaccine technology, and meet with representatives on Capitol Hill to discuss global vaccine funding as it relates to the Congressional Budget. ImmUNITY works in partnership with advocates and partner organizations around the world, and in this way, its members are able to be a small part of the advocacy network responsible for working towards ending childhood deaths from vaccine-preventable diseases
